Our 7-step Custom Stairs build process (see below) includes accurate on-site measurements, rigorous attention to detail, and thorough communication throughout. Ensuring efficient on-site installation and quality control, all Westcoast Custom Stairs are assembled in our state-of-the-art temperature-controlled Stair Shop.

CUSTOM STAIRS — THE WESTCOAST SIGNATURE STAIRCASE 7 STEP PROCESS
CONSULTATION
After an initial introduction, your STAIR DIVISION representative will arrange with you a phone call, and/or an office or site visit to discuss design options for your custom stairs project and then walk through the entire Custom Stairs build process from design to completion.

CUSTOM STAIRS: PRELIMINARY DESIGN & QUOTATION
From what we learned in our initial discussion, we do a layout of the proposed Custom Stairs Design in plan view and 3D and include pricing for the project. If required, to ensure your custom stairs design passes applicable building codes, we review the option and price for providing an Engineering Report.
A nominal, deductible fee is charged in advance for detailed layout drawings required for framing etc.

FINAL DESIGN & CUSTOMER APPROVAL
After the Custom Stairs Design is confirmed, the final contract with pricing signed, and the deposit received, the Custom Stairs plan drawings are produced. Included is lead-time required for construction and an approximate delivery and installation date is confirmed.

CUSTOM STAIRS: MANUFACTURING
Once all the material for the Custom Stairs project is sourced, our craftsmen start the hands on manufacturing process. Near the completion of your Custom Stairs, we contact you to ensure the site is ready for delivery and installation.

DELIVERY
Your Custom Stairs are thoroughly wrapped and protected and loaded onto an appropriate flatbed truck or crane loader. We plan and optimize the route for the delivery and ensure we follow all site safety regulations and guidelines during the off-loading and movement on your construction site.

INSTALLATION
Our Installation Team takes every measure possible to protect the work area where the Custom Stairs will be installed including covering the floor with a protective membrane. The site is reviewed and when completed, the staircase is hoisted into place with a portable scaffolding system. Load-rated fasteners are used to complete the installation of the staircase and a final inspection is conducted with your STAIR DIVISION representative. Total installation is usually completed within 1-2 days.

CUSTOM STAIRS: FOLLOW UP
Our job isn’t finished with the final inspection. Your STAIR DIVISION representative will follow up with you 3-4 weeks after installation, once you’ve had a chance to live with your new Westcoast Signature Staircase, to ensure it still meets your expectations and our high standards. Any deficiencies in manufacturing or installation will be reviewed and corrected.
